Dear School Community of Parents, Guardians & Teachers:

Welcome, Gordon Parks Family!  As embark on a new school year under the leadership of our new principal, the PTA welcomes all new parents/guardians and extends our sincere appreciation to our remaining parents/guardians for their continued support in the enrichment of our children’s educational environment. We look forward to working with each and every one to fulfill our children’s hopes of academic achievement.

 Our first Parent Teacher Association General Membership Meeting will be on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 7pm, SHARP in the Dining Room.  We expect the same level of turnout as for “Know Your School Night”!!!  We can only accomplish what we set out to do if all of us work together and contribute whatever we can and in any capacity!  At this meeting, we will detail further all the goals and objectives we hope to accomplish with your support!

 As it always has been in the past, we, the PTA have worked collectively with administration, staff and parents/guardians to provide a well-rounded educational atmosphere.  This school year will not be any different. As we move forward, we’d like to highlight some of what we have accomplished to provide financial support for the following 2011 – 2012 school year events and enhancements:

·         (20) APPLE IPADS

·         Ballroom Dancing Program for 4^th, 5^th and 8^th graders

·         Holiday Gifts - Magazine subscriptions for participating students

·         Magic Entertainment’s The BRAIN Show – family “Jeopardy-style” program

·         The NED Show – Anti-bullying, self-esteem program for K – 5

·         Most Improved Student Awards

·         All in One Entertainment’s CARNIVAL Day for K – 5

·         LockerWorks’ organizational locker system for entire 8^th grade for their graduation gifts

 One of our most important fundraisers, our Membership Drive commences today, on “Know Your School Night”.  As a reminder, our Miss Chocolate Catalog Fundraiser will be ending on September 27, 2012.  Please make every effort to support these kick offs to our series of fundraisers that we hold throughout the school year.  In order for our children to enjoy a well-rounded educational experience, we encourage each of you to support us as we fund various enhancements within the school.

We strongly urge you to help us help you to keep our children engaged and focused on the most important thing in their development – their education!  Looking forward to a productive year!
